LAPT is the premier tournament circuit in Central and South America. Sponsored by PokerStars, it serves as the sister tour to legendary international circuit like the European Poker Tour (EPT). The tour is celebrated for its incredibly passionate crowds, massive field sizes, and sun-drenched, resort-heavy destinations.

Early Boom (2008–2016)
Launched in May 2008 with an inaugural stop in Rio de Janeiro, the LAPT quickly became the ultimate proving ground for Latin American poker talent. It frequently merged with massive local festivals like the Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP).

Hiatus
In late 2016, PokerStars temporarily retired the LAPT brand name in an effort to consolidate all global tours under a unified "PokerStars Championship" umbrella.

Modern Revival (2023–Present)
Modern Revival (2023–Present) Due to immense player demand, PokerStars officially revived the iconic LAPT brand. It returned directly to its roots in Rio de Janeiro and has since resumed running multi-stop yearly seasons.

The LAPT spans a mix of major cultural capitals and luxurious beach resorts. Stops in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo routinely draw the largest, most energetic field counts on the schedule. Uruguay, Panama, and Mexico and Montevideo are also major stops.

Tournament Structure & Buy-ins The tour caters to a wide spectrum of bankrolls, balancing affordable access for qualifiers with premier structures for elite professionals. Main Events feature a $1,500 buy-in. High Rollers events offer $3,000 to $5,000 buy-ins to accommodate traveling high-stakes pros.
